Effective Jan 3, 2011, Deeds must be submitted for approval to the Lorain County Tax Map/GIS Department by Noon, in order for same to be available for processing and recording that day. According to the Lorain County Auditor’s Office, any deeds submitted after 12:00 p.m. will not be available until noon the next day of business.
The requirement of County Engineers/Tax Map Departments reviewing legal descriptions pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 5713.09 prior to approving deeds for recording is far from new. However, timing and specific requirements may vary from county to county. If recording time is crucial, it is highly recommended to contact (or have your title company contact) the applicable county, with plenty of lead time.
